Bridging the gap between theory and practice

University of Winchester 12-13 June 2017

Sport and Cultural Events – Advanced Conference on Event Management

Events are based in society and involve people. They comprise interaction between people and places and they have costs and benefits. Thus, sport and cultural events can positively benefit local economies in the form of socio-cultural and economic impacts. Subsequently, organisers of events can maximise such impacts by adopting a strategic approach to event management. However, strategic planning has been lacking. Scholars and practitioners are invited to submit papers that are providing best practice in action in the area of Sport and/or Cultural Event Management that have the potential to inspire insightful discussions. This conference will aid aspiring practitioners, event management academics and students as it will provide a set of detailed, international contributions.
