Challenges, creativity and collaboration

Southampton Solent are pleased to announce that Kevin Baughan, Deputy Chief Executive of Innovate UK, is set to open Solent’s annual Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) Conference this May.

Kevin has worked with Innovate UK – the Government organisation responsible for driving growth and supporting innovation amongst UK companies – since 2014 and has also held numerous leadership roles within the telecommunications industry.

Kevin says: “We live, work and play in an innovation economy and the government’s industrial strategy has now placed a clear focus on ensuring that research and innovation come together to make a difference to enterprise and to our future prosperity. I am therefore delighted to have this opportunity to discuss at the Solent RIE conference how we can achieve this ambition through challenges, creativity and collaboration.”

The RIE Conference is a celebration of research-based activity from across the University, the region and beyond. Taking place on 2-3 May 2018 in the Spark building, the conference provides an environment to share ideas and explore how change and progress can be achieved through research, innovation and enterprise.
