Lesley Dibley, research fellow & PhD student at Buckinghamshire New University and her primary supervisor Professor Christine Norton have just been awarded £26,718 to adapt an existing bowel symptoms assessment tool.

Lesley & Chris tested the current assessment tool in the course of their recent ‘Continence In Inflammatory Bowel Disease [IBD]’ study (presented at the CREST Symposium on 6th September) and found that, in it’s current form, it is not sufficiently sensitive to the specific needs of people with IBD.

They approached the funders of the original study (Crohn’s & Colitis UK) and successfully presented the case for further funding to develop this work, arising directly out of the results of the Continence Study. The study is due to start early in 2012.
