To foster the sharing of information and research among experts and students, the University of Winchester will launch a brand new Crime and Justice Research Centre on 10 October.

“The Centre will act as a catalyst and forum to allow researchers and experts at the University to come together and share their work,” said Brian Thornton, lecturer at the University of Winchester, leading journalist and co-founder of the Research Centre.

The keynote address exploring the Problems of Miscarriages of Justice will be delivered by the highly distinguished British legal scholar and expert on the British legal system, Professor Michael Zander QC, FBA of the London School of Economics.

“We are delighted to be able to welcome Professor Zander QC to mark the launch of such an important resource,” added Brian.

Brian Thornton is among a number of experts presenting during the launch. Other contributing speakers are Professor Kris Spelman Miller, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Tim Hall, Head of Department for Applied Social Sciences; and Dr Alan Grattan, Programme Leader for Criminology and co-founder of the Crime and Justice Research Centre.

The new Research Centre is designed to enhance current developments with the already well-established Winchester Innocence Project – part of the Innocence Network UK – extending its interest to cover research related to the vast field of crime and justice.

The Crime and Justice Research Centre Launch takes place on 10 October at 7pm at The Stripe, King Alfred Campus, University of Winchester, Sparkford Road, Winchester, Hampshire SO22 4NR.
