A major EU-funded exhibition, hosted by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and Ecole Supérieure d’Art et Design Le Havre-Rouen (ESADHaR), will open at the UCA Canterbury’s Herbert Read Gallery on September 13, 2013 with a private viewing on September 12.

The exhibition ‘Limber: Spatial Painting Practices’ will present a group of international artists who explore and expand painting through a constructed 3D materiality. The exhibition will engage with the history of painting, the increasing dominance of visual structures and the growing influence of architecture, fashion and design.

The exhibition forms part of the Inter-regional Culture led Regeneration (ICR) project led by the UCA, which aims to stimulate the growth of the creative and cultural industries in the south coast of England and Par-de-Calais, Normandy and Brittany in France. It is co-financed by the European Union INTERREG IVA Channel programme and UCA’s Research and Enterprise department.
