Outline: The open access movement is transforming scholarly communications. This introductory webinar will give an overview of what open access is; the benefits of open access; and how to make your publications or thesis open access at UCA.

The webinar will make you aware of key funder requirements for open access and latest policy developments, including the new HEFCE open access policy for the post-2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The webinar will also provide advice on navigating complexities such as publishers’ open access policies and copyright.

Objectives:

  • To identify the reasons and requirements for open access.
  • To outline how copyright and licensing applies when making your outputs open access.
  • To discover how to make your own research outputs open access through self-archiving in UCA Research Online.
