The Royal Agricultural University is pleased to announce that Greencycleit, a Gloucestershire based company specialising in innovative recycling, has been awarded a Universities South West (USW) Innovation voucher to support its product development work with the RAU.

The scheme has enabled Greencycleit to team up with academics at the RAU in a new recycling project, utilising waste coffee grounds.

The RAU hold extensive research and development experience in product development within the agricultural industry, and are very much looking forward to supporting Greencycleit’s growth within the South West and wider economy.

Nigel Kiernan, Managing Director of Greencycleit, said: ‘We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the USW voucher scheme and the RAU Consultancy department for helping to achieve this funding. We are absolutely delighted to be able to work in partnership with the RAU in developing an environmentally friendly, sustainable product base.’

This is the first Innovation voucher awarded for collaboration between the RAU and a business in the South West. The funding scheme is run by Universities South West (USW), a higher education membership association representing a collaboration of 14 Higher Education Institutions in the South West.

The vouchers funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), offer 40% financial contribution for South West based SMEs, towards an ‘innovative’ project with a University partner.

The key aim of the scheme is to encourage business growth in the South West, through greater investment by businesses in innovation activities.
