Members of the European Parliament Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development visited Harper Adams University this week as part of a tour of the Midlands.

Following a meeting with Lord Plumb, Member of the House of Lords Select Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment and Energy, and Neil Parish, Member of the House of Commons Select Committee on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, in Birmingham, delegates spent four hours at the university on Monday meeting staff involved in anaerobic digestion, dairy science research and controlled traffic farming.

Delegation Chairman, Albert Dess, a German MEP, complimented Harper Adams on the range of innovations demonstrated to the group.

University staff have now been invited to Brussels to share their research activity with a wider group of parliamentarians.

Professor Peter Mills, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Harper Adams, said: “The visit from MEPs and staff from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development was an excellent opportunity to showcase innovative ideas developed by Harper Adams researchers that will ultimately be of benefit to agriculture across Europe and the rest of the world.”
