Dr Ruth Jones has been named the Worcestershire Woman of the Year in recognition of her research into domestic and sexual violence, as well as her translation of this research into a number of services, including a 24-hour helpline and work with the Asha Women’s Centre. At the University of Worcester she also designed the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Development: The Dynamics of Domestic Violence, the first professional postgraduate qualification looking specifically at this issue, which has now been extended to a full Masters Degree at the University. Dr Jones has also been recognised by a number of Higher Education institutions, as well as the Department of Health and the Home Office.
